School Services at the Zone

Science Zone has a complete variety of education services for schools including workshops for 4 to 11 year olds on subjects such as Dynamic Dinosaurs; Fizzy Science; Fractal Maths; Good Vibrations; Gooey Science; Helicopters and Hovercrafts; Floating and Sinking; Fossil Art; Jurassic Sea Creatures; Let There Be Light; Luminous Science; Rainbow Science; Shocking Science; Scintillating Sharks; Taste, Touch & Smelly Science; Under The Sea; Vivacious Volcanoes and Wild Weather. We also do Acids and Alkalis for 7 to 11 year olds. Workshops are £10 per head (Excluding VAT)* (*Additional charge for Dry Ice on some workshops.)

 

In addition we also run a full planetarium at the centre . A dome show at the centre is £4 per head (Excluding VAT)

 

 

 

In our fixed planetarium in our Zone centre we welcome local schools to visit the Dorset Planetarium in the Science Zone, maybe for a workshop too.    

 

Bookings for planetarium in 2026 must be made in advance - please contact reception for available dates and times.

 

 

Our advanced 4K digital planetarium shows real terrain of the Earth and the planets, even simulating the landing on Mars and the Moon. Great for Adults shows and families to learn about space and the stars, and many of our shows are different to view including our popular 'Dinosaur Show' in the dome.

Opening times for School Half Term Holidays 

10.30am to 4pm

We are not open during term time during the week days except for After School Club. See times below. 
Open every Saturday as normal services 10.30am to 4pm. 

 

 

 

Opening times for School term times (Coding Club only ) 

Mon:3pm to 5.30pm  

Tue: 3pm to 5.30pm

Wed: 3pm to 5.30pm

Thu: 3pm to 5.30pm 

Fri: 3pm to 5.30pm 

Sat: 10:30am - 4pm

 

 

On the road:

We do science experiments and dry ice workshops and dinosaur parties for children and/or adults on location - if you have a big enough space with an electrical power supply, we can do it.
